LIFE AS AN ESSAY

After ten years of distancing himself from the art system, Life as an Essay perhaps marks Fernando Caridi's return to producing graphic works on paper. His residency coincides with the loan of Gabriel Macotela's printing press to the gallery. The title of the residency refers to the possibility of approaching artistic production without a predetermined path, with an openness to incorporating, repeating, and refining discoveries, but also misunderstandings.

“Her work develops from research and a critical review of the uses and characteristics of graphic art, with a special emphasis on the problem of reproduction. In this sense, the cultural field is juxtaposed with the field of political practice, as every operation of capitalization in politics involves a visual correlate as well as a rhetoric that is sustained by this imaginary.”*
